Mt. Hood Snow Forecast – 5000′

Good morning!

Today’s going to be a lovely, sunny, spring-like day on Mt. Hood. We’ll see the temp rise to the low 40’s today, with the freezing level around 9000’ and W wind at 5-10 early and SW 15-20 in the afternoon. It’s not quite bikini weather, but it will still be a nice day.

Tomorrow starts off clear and beautiful, with the freezing level at 8000’. We’ll see the freezing level drop to 7000’ by 1pm, 5500’ by 4pm and 3000’ by 7pm, falling more overnight. It’s going to start precipitating sometime early afternoon, so it’s likely going to start as rain, shifting to snow pretty quickly. Total precip will be .4-.6” water value, so I’m going to call 3-4” of new snow by Tuesday morning. Windspeeds will be SW 20-25 early, picking up to SW 30-40 by 1pm, switching to NW 20-30 by 4pm and holding through the evening.

Tuesday morning starts off with flurries, quickly becoming partly cloudy to clear. The freezing level will be at 1000’, dropping to the surface in the Gorge. Wind will be NW 20-25 early, going to N 10-15 midday and swinging around to E 10-15 in the evening.

Wednesday looks cold and dry. Thursday and Friday should be dry and above freezing on Mt. Hood.

Have a great day today!
