Good morning!
Finally, some good news on the weather front!
Today will be clear, with some high clouds moving in late in the afternoon. The wind, at NW 20-40 right now, will back off to SW 15-20 in the afternoon. No precip, freezing level at the surface with high temps in the upper twenties on the mountain. Should be an awesome NYE on Mt. Hood!
Tomorrow starts off partly cloudy, becoming sunny, with no precip. The freezing level will be 8000’, rising to 9500’ in the afternoon with SW wind at 25-30, swinging more to the south in the afternoon.
Monday is our next chance for snow on the mountain. The freezing level will be at 7000’ at 4am, dropping to 3500’ by 4am. There’s a chance this will start off as rain, but it will quickly switch to snow for .2-.3” water value or 2-3” of new snow between 7am and 7pm. Wind will be SW 35-40.
Tuesday looks warm and sunny with the freezing level around 10000’ and SW wind at 15-20.
Next chance for significant snowfall is Wednesday afternoon. It’s probably going to start as rain, but I think it will switch quickly to snow for 12-14” by Thursday morning, with another 5-7” during the day Thursday along with very, very windy weather.
Have a great day today!
