Wednesday. Wind, more wind, wind, and more wind!

DSC_2882
Hello Windy Day! I’m busting out this forecast as fast as I can this morning, because I have just enough time to get on the water before I go to Portland to therapy and school. What a fun day! Anyway, there are huge whitecaps on the Columbia already this morning, driven by a massive .19 (pdx-dls) plus .05 (dls-psc) gradient. Continued after the chart…

Today’s Gorge Wind – these are ranges for the average speed, not a predicted wind range. =)

Gorge wind forecast, continued…

We’ll see 23-26 from Viento to Mosier for Dawn Patrol, followed by 28-32 from Viento to Mosier this morning and Stevenson to Rufus this afternoon. It is possible, given that massive gradient, that we’ll see periods of 30-35.

Thursday looks windy right off the bat, with Dawn Patrol at 24-28 from Viento to Mosier. You can expect 26-30 mid-morning in that stretch of river, building to 26-30 from Stevenson to Rufus in the afternoon.

Friday sees a deeper marine layer as the tail end of a cold front just clips Oregon. We’ll start out the day with 21-24 just east of Hood River, followed by 25-29 from Viento to Rufus in the afternoon. Saturday looks like 28-32, Sunday also looks very windy, Monday looks windy…

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast

There will be snow on the ground at Mt. Hood today, and every day until the glaciers completely melt away.

Random Morning Thoughts

You’ll have to forgive me this morning – there’s only one thing on my mind right now: Windsurfing. I was at school all day yesterday and missed the fun, but it’s all mine for a couple hours this morning. See you on the river!

Disclaimer required by my grad school program: I am not your therapist (but I could be in 708 days). I am your weather forecaster. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, and consult with your actual therapist about your mental health issues. One other thing: I plan to keep doing this forecast indefinitely, even when I am a therapist.
