Mt. Hood Snow Forecast

It’s Sunday morning, and it’s currently raining on Mt. Hood with freezing rain at lower elevations. NICE! NOT! We’ll see continued drizzle on the mountain today with a chance of a bit of snow tonight. The snow level will be 8000′ all day, and 4500′ on Monday morning. About 1/10” rain will fall today, and another .1” water value (WV) will fall as temps drop tonight, giving the mountain a trace to an inch of new snow. Wind will be NW 25during the day and W 40 overnight.

Monday’s weather system is right on the edge of rain or snow – depends on the exact path it takes. The snow level will be 4500′ in the morning and somewhere around 6000′, give or take, in the afternoon, and 4500′ on Tuesday morning. About .5” WV falls during the day. Could be rain. Could be a mix. Let’s call it up to 3” of dense snow. Wind will be WNW 40 in the morning, W 25 in the afternoon, and SW 15 rising to 35 overnight.

Tuesday looks quite windy and precipitationy. The snow level will be 4500′ early, 6500′ when the precip hits, 1500′ by 7pm, and 500-1000′ on Wednesday morning. About 1.5” WV will fall between 1pm Tuesday and 4am Wednesday. Although there will likely be rain at the beginning of that, the dropping temps will give the mountain 9-12”+ of new snow by Wednesday morning. Wind will be WSW 35 early, SW 40++ in the afternoon (especially at higher elevations) and W 45 after midnight.

Wednesday looks snowy. The snow level will be 500′-1000′ all day, dropping to the surface after the precip ends. Hello cold snap! Mt. Hood will see .5”+ WV during the day, for 5-7” of fluffy new snow. Wind will be W 45 in the morning and NNW 30 in the afternoon, definitely impacting lifts. Thursday looks clear and cold with north wind.

Random Morning Thoughts

I’m going to pass on writing a reflection this morning. Why? Because I can! Have an awesome day!

Disclaimer required by my grad school program: I am not your therapist, but I am seeing clients at this time. In the meantime, I am your weather forecaster. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, and consult with your actual therapist about your mental health issues. One other thing: I plan to keep doing this forecast indefinitely, even when I am a therapist.

White Sprinter Van of the Week

Road and Mountain Biking

Post Canyon is currently closed to prevent trail damage. I had a report from yesterday that Syncline was good up to the fence. My best guess would be that upper trails have freeze-thaw mud, and will be subject to damage if you ride them. Same for Whoopdee. Buck Creek or Nestor Peak would be a good place to try for a ride. The gravel grinding, as always, is great, and so is the road biking.
