Celilo
Celilo’s chef-owner Ben Stenn has the culinary credentials to produce stunning food. Educated at La Varenne, Ben’s been cooking for over 20 years. He’s committed to creating delicious meals using local ingredients. His goal is to take the best ingredients from our region and present them in a simple and delicious form, highlighting individual flavors.
Beyond feeding you, Celilo’s staff strives to make as little impact on the environment as possible. As much of the food as possible is locally sourced, everything that can be reused or recycled is, and vegetable scraps and coffee grounds become compost for local farmers and gardeners.
Celilo’s ambiance is adaptable to any occasion; The high ceilings of the room and wall-covering paintings by local artist Ellen Ditterbrant make for a romantic dinner for two or a classy setting for a business lunch. Your dining partner won’t fail to be impressed. However, if you’re a local sports bum, the friendly bar staff and inexpensive bar menu priced from $4-$12 will make you feel welcome as well.
The dinner menu at Celilo isn’t cheap, but it’s not wallet-busting either, with main courses ranging from $14 for pasta to $22 for steak for moderate portions. However, the care that goes into the preparation is obvious, and the unusual ingredients and distinct flavors justify the prices.
Celilo is open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week. Lunch is served from 11:30-3pm and dinner starts at 5pm.
Happy Hour is 5-6 every day with 1/2 price bar menu food and a delicious assortment of unusual mixed drinks. There is a one-drink minimum purchase during happy hour if you’re after the inexpensive food.
Celilo is located at 16 Oak Street in downtown Hood River.
