Mt. Hood Snow Forecast

The long range forecast for Mt. Hood is still looking better than it has all season. The only exception to that is a likely period of rain on Tuesday night, but that looks to be followed by heavy snow on Wednesday, so we can forgive Mother Nature those few wet hours.

For Friday, we’ll see very light snowfall during the day followed by heavier snowfall tonight. The snow level will be 1500′ early and 2000′ for the rest of the day and night. We’ll see a trace of snow during the day and .5” water value (WV) tonight, for 5-6” of light, fluffy powder. Widn will be WSW 15 all day, turning to W 20-25 after midnight.

Saturday brings light snowfall with the exception of a few hours around sunrise when the sun may pop out for a bit. The snowfall will fade after 4pm, perhaps just turning to high overcast sky. The snow level will be 2000′ in the morning, 2500′ in the evening, and 3500′ after midnight. Mt. Hood will see .2” WV during the day, for 2-3” of snow. A trace falls overnight. Wind will be W 25 in the mornign, WSW 20 in the afternoon, and SW 15-20 overnight.

Sunday will be snowy during the day and cloudy overnight. The snow level will be 3500′ in the morning, falling to 2000′ after midnight. Mt. Hood will get .4” WV during the day, for 3-5” of new snow. A trace falls overnight. Widn will be SW 15-20 in the morning and WSW 25-30 in the afternoon and evening.

The long range forecast contains a few inches of snow Monday, rain Tuesday night, and heavy snow during the day on Wednesday.

Random Morning Thoughts

There are times we have to make choices. For example, this morning I need to make a choice between picking up my house and folding laundry and spending more time on the forecast. I’m going to choose the former, because I’m also tired and don’t feel like thinking. You too can make such choices and give yourself a break once in a while. And you can communicate that to those around you. If those two things feel impossible, check out what keeps you from doing them. You’ll learn something interesting about you. Have an awesome day!
Disclaimer required by my grad school program: I am not your therapist, but I am seeing clients at this time at Comprehensive Healthcare in White Salmon. In the meantime, I am your weather forecaster. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, and consult with your actual therapist about your mental health issues. One other thing: I plan to keep doing this forecast indefinitely. Forecasting and counseling are both deeply meaningful and nourishing to me.

White Sprinter Van of the Week

Road and Mountain Biking

Post Canyon is currently closed to all users to protect the trails from damage. Whoopdee is closed to bikes and horses for the same reason. Syncline remains mobbed. I’m not sure about the upper half of Nestor, but the Horse Camp section is in good shape with one tree down.
