3/23 Mt. Hood weather and Gorge weather

Thank you for using this forecast! Your donations keep this forecast going – despite rumors to the contrary, nobody pays me to write this and post it. This forecast started as a way for me to find better windsurfing conditions. It morphed into a way for me to find better skiing in the winter. Seemed silly to keep that information to myself, so it’s here for you (almost) every day. Make a $12 or larger donation, and you’re on the email list for a year. No dealing with the twice-yearly pledge drive. Sometimes I even have prizes to give away from the email list sponsors. Thank you again for your support! Enjoy the snow and wind and sun!

Good morning,

Well. That was sure fun yesterday. I think my first run was one of my top ten ever! Today will be lovely on the mountain in a different way: no wind. Great groomed runs. Happy people.

Expect high clouds to move in pretty quickly, which will tamp down the power of the March sun, leaving the snow in cold, dry shape for much of the day. Sure, sun is nice, but this late in the year it’ll work a number on the snow. The freezing level today will be 500′ early and 1000′ later with light and variable wind to 10-15mph.

Sunday starts out clear with high clouds moving in midday. The freezing level will be 500′ early and 2000′ in the afternoon. Wind will be light and variable, swinging to W 10 in the evening.

Monday looks partly cloudy. The freezing level will be 4500′ early and 6500′ in the afternoon. Wind will be SW 10-15. Tuesday also looks partly cloudy, with the freezing level around 5500 and light wind. There’s a chance of a few flurries or sprinkles late.

In the Gorge, we’ll see high overcast sky today. Temps will be in the low to mid 30’s early and upper 40’s in the afternoon with light west wind early becoming light east in the afternoon.

Sunday starts off clear and cold with temps in the low 30’s early with a chance of frost. Temps will rise to near 50 degrees in the afternoon and clouds will move in. Wind will rise to E 20-24 near Stevenson, with light wind in the Central Gorge.

Monday sees temps in the low 40’s early and low 50’s in the afternoon under cloudy sky with east wind at 23-26.

Have an awesome day today!
