2/2 Mt. Hood forecast.

It’s the 1st annual Winter Pledge Drive!

Thank you for using this forecast! It’s free to use, but it’s not free for me to write. I put about an hour a day into creating a (hopefully) accurate forecast, and I pay for the hosting on this website. If you use this forecast to pick the good days on the hill or on the river, if you find this report saves you gas money or time, please make a donation during pledge drive month! I’m just one gal with other jobs writing this for you! Your generosity keeps this going for everyone. I also send an email version of this forecast. Make a $12 or larger donation, and you’re on the email list for a year. No more pledge drive.

Here’s how this works. If I get donations totaling $15 or more today, I post a forecast tomorrow. To make this fair, I’ll update the color of the dot throughout the day.

Tomorrow’s forecast status: as of 7:14am. Thank you, Rachel and Thomas!

Good morning,

I walked out of the house this morning and breathed a happy sign of relief. It’s going to be a sunny day in the Gorge – no evil inversion. Three cheers from everyone! Wish I could join you in the lowlands for some biking. That said, it’s below freezing in the gorge and above freezing on Mt. Hood, so take your pick of suny venues today. since it’s clear today, it should be clear tomorrow. That means a gorgeous Gorge weekend on tap. I know at least a couple of fellows who will be thrilled about that, including Mr. Dirty Fingers, who is hosting a Superbowl tailgate party in his parking lot tomorrow.

Gorge weather will be east wind today at 30-40+, with light east wind tomorrow morning switchign to light west in the afternoon. Expect light east wind Monday. Temps will be below freezign today, below freezing tomorrow morning, warming up to the low 40’s in the afternoon. Monday will be in teh upper 30’s.

In biking news, Syncline was great yesterday, but sub-freezing temps last night may change the situation to melt-freeze today. Rumor has it that 8-Track and The Boot are snow-free in Post Canyon.

On Mt. Hood, it’ll be sunny today, with the free air freezing level (FAF) around 10,000′ and SW wind at 10mph. Teh high will be around 40 degrees.

Sunday starts off clear with high clouds moving in during teh afternoon. The FAF will be at 8000′ and the wind will be WNW 15 early and 20 in the afternoon.

Monday starts with cloudy sky on Mt. Hood, becomign clear midday, wtih high clouds int eh afternoon. The FAF will be 6500′ early, 7000′ midday and 8000′ in the afternoon. Wind will be W 20 early, NW 10 midday adn SW 10 in the afternoon.

Tuesday brings a bit of a change in teh weather. High clouds int eh morning give way to a few flurries midday. The snow level will be 5500′ early, 4000′ mid-morning, 3000′ in the afternoon, and 2000′ in teh evening. Total precip will be .1-.3″” water value, for a couple inches of new, at best. Wind Tuesday will be SW 25 early, swinging to W 30 at 1pm.

Wednesday through Friday continue bringing snow flurries, but no massive accumulations are in the forecast.

Have an awesome day today!
